Grady's first day at ECH

Grady's first day of school!
Snack time, cheerios....yum!
Playing in the sandbox
Playing the piano
Who doesn't love a ball pit?!

Today was a big day! Grady had his first day at the Early Childhood House! I met with the teachers and school nurse prior to today to discuss Grady's behavior of passing out when he is tired, gets hurt, angry, or frustrated. The thought was that he might get really upset the first few times he gets dropped off at school. I am happy to report that the drop off went very well this morning! The teacher said he only intermediately cried. When I went to pick him up I was expecting him to have missed me so much that he would come running to me and say, "Mama." However he was so happy playing that he barely noticed my arrival. I am glad the morning went so well, but I did want that big hello hug from him. Oh well, I guess I would rather him have a good time then spend the hours missing me. It is so nice for Grady to have three days where he can socialize with other kids in a learning environment. We chose to put him in school this early because he does not attend daycare and since I am in the minority of being a stay at home mom we don't have any play groups. kathi Bagnoli, his teacher sent us a nice email with pictures of his first day.

what a great teacher! i'm sure he''ll do great but i totally understand wanting him to come running to you, saying, "MAMA!!", when you picked him up. :)

That is so great that Grady enjoys the new school. You are so lucky to not have to deal with the screaming when dropping a child off. It's really hard! Don't worry, pretty soon you'll get the BIG HUG and KISS when he sees you. Of course he'll miss his Mama!!!
